We’re about 1/3 of the way through our record. We all just recorded Roustabout first thing this morning and now I’m listening to Andy re-record some of his parts upstairs in his recording room. We’re staying and recording in a beautiful house up near Stoddard, New Hampshire and we all have individual rooms where we are isolated and can each record our part. We each have headphones so that we can actually hear each other even though we can’t see each other.

We arrived up here on Wednesday evening. Got some sounds and tested our mic setups, had dinner and then recorded Appalachan. On Thursday we recorded Moose Schottis, Brushy Run and one of Bronwyn’s new tunes, freshly named “Lady Bird Polska.” (There are tons of some kind of Chinese beetles in the house that look exactly like ladybugs, but they aren’t.) Bronwyn and Laura roasted a chicken for dinner and afterwards we listened to everything we had recorded.

So today we woke up, showered, had breakfast (bacon and eggs made by Matt!) and participated in Laura’s meditative vocal warm up to get us in the recording mood.

I’ll post some videos and photos from the process so far!
